Custom Enamel Pins, Epoxy, or NOT?

For custom enamel pins, epoxy, or NOT, That is the Question.

Some of the time. Our clients ask: would it be a good idea to add epoxy to the lapel Pin OR not? What is the utilization of epoxy? In this article, we will discuss the epoxy coating.

1.What is epoxy?

An epoxy dome is a transparent resin coating that adds to the outside of lapel pins, challenge coins, keychains, charms, stickers, and award medals. By adding an epoxy dome to an item, it can shield your products without any preparation.

2.What is the epoxy coating process?Epoxy process

Epoxy is fluid, such as streaming water. Epoxy coating is a man-hand make, laborers add a moderate volume of epoxy fluid on the center part of products with an infusion needle. Then, the fluid will stream and spread all around the entire item until it is even. After that, the item will be heated in the stove until it is dry and hard in an arrangement time, generally, 20-40min is sufficient.

The epoxy coating process goes after filling enamel or printing measure. In other words, when the workers finish filling soft enamel or printing until it is dry, then add epoxy.

3. Custom Enamel Pins, Epoxy, or NOT?

There are two unique voices for this question.

The epoxy resin can apply to soft enamel, photo-etched products, silkscreen, and off-set printing style lapel pins and challenge coins, award medals, and all 2D items. Anyway, epoxy covering is an alternative, not a must-have for soft enamel style lapel pins and challenge coins, maybe you can say it is an individual preference if you want to add epoxy or not. Some clients appreciate the texture surface sentiment of raised and recessed metal, they don’t care for epoxy covering on items. On the other hand, a part of clients like the epoxy vault items as it can protect the enamel, or maybe they like the dome.

For custom hard enamel pins, there is NO need to add epoxy. Because the hard enamel pins surface is hard, it does not hard easily.

However, for printing items, epoxy is basic. Silkscreen paint and off-set printed items are sensitive and are fairly simple to harm. In a word, the epoxy covering can fill in as a defensive covering to keep the plan from being scratched off.

4.The difference between epoxy and without epoxy

As we discussed above, there are mainly two differences:

The first one is the surface feeling. When the product is with epoxy, the surface is clear and smooth. Or you can feel the raised metal and recessed metal texture clearly.

The second is for a part of certain products, the epoxy coating can serve as a protective coating to protect soft enamel and printing items.

That is all.

5.Does epoxy impact value a great deal to custom lapel pins?

Of course NOT. Epoxy takes up somewhat part cost of lapel pins. Perhaps around $0.03-$0.07/pc dependent on size.

6.How to keep the epoxy coating badges?

Epoxy is a compound pitch, You would be wise to not put custom enamel pins or soft enamel challenge coins in corrosive basic fluid and it can’t be uncovered quite a while in hot daylight if there should be an occurrence of shading change.
